Bulk add HS codes and country of origin in Shopify

Shopify's normal product CSV doesn't set customs data. A separate import on the duties settings screen does, and it takes every variant in one file.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → Taxes and duties → Duties and import taxes → Manage.
  2. Under Product information, export the current file. It is emailed to you and shows which products are missing data.
  3. Fill in Country of origin (two-letter code, for example US) and HS code (digits only, six or more) for each row.
  4. Choose Update with CSV and upload the file. Shopify emails you when it has finished.

The columns

Product Handle, Product title, Variant SKU, Option1 Name, Option1 Value, Option2 Name, Option2 Value, Option3 Name, Option3 Value, Country of origin, HS code

The shortcut

DutyReady reads your normal Products → Export file, suggests an HS code for each product, and writes this exact file for you, ready to upload.

General information, not legal or customs advice. Six-digit HS codes are the same worldwide; the EU adds digits (CN 8-digit, TARIC 10-digit). Confirm in the EU TARIC database or with your carrier for unusual products. Last reviewed October 2026.
